This product uses surfactants that are biodegradable, vegetable based and phosphate free. They are not tested on animals. Essential oils are used as an ingredient in some of the fragrances, but the products may also include man-made ingredients, depending on the fragrances. The actual ingredients are proprietary, and the vendor will not release the formula. Gaiam has received a current MSDS statement; and the vendor states that the active ingredients are biodegradable fabric softening agents (catonic).
